AIHS has secured our "Airbnb" unit at Amesbury Middle School for approximately a month while vital repairs are completed to our home at 71 Friend Street. We will begin school on the second floor of the 7th grade wing at Amesbury Middle School tomorrow, 11/3!

As a result of the boiler malfunction and subsequent damage that occurred on Thursday (10/30) morning, additional safety concerns arose that need to be addressed before we can return back home to our building. In careful consideration of our current situation, Superintendent McAndrews, Principal Doug Nebel (AMS), Dr. Danielle Ricci (AHS), and I agreed that a temporary stay at Amesbury Middle School would be our BEST option given the unforeseen circumstances. On Thursday afternoon, the Superintendent, Principal Nebel, and I walked through the vacant second floor of the 7th grade wing to map out what our AIHS "Airbnb" will look like. 

Although we would of course prefer to be in our own building, this is the reality of our current situation. I also must add that this "Airbnb" is really nice! We have space for all of our academic classrooms, a front office, a nurse's office, a guidance office/learning center, a special education collaborative learning space, and principal's office. We have windows that stay open, floors that don't creak, plenty of natural light, and plenty of room in the classrooms. Although it doesn't allow for some of the comforts of home that we are used to, I take much pride in the strength, resilience, adaptability, and fortitude of the students and staff of AIHS and am confident that we will take this challenge on, as we always do.
